Why am I receiving a new debit and ATM card?

Every Cedar Valley Bank & Trust ATM and debit card holder received a new card as part of a bank-wide reissue as we move to a new system. This includes consumer, business, and health savings account cards.

Do I have to get a new card? 

Yes.

Will I have to get a new debit card number? 

Yes. The previous debit card numbers no longer work as of February 9, 2026.

When will I receive my new card?

New cards were mailed to customers beginning January 19, 2026. The new debit card came in a white, nondescript envelope with a return address of 321 Main Street, La Porte City IA 50651

What do I do when I receive my new card?

Please activate the card and set the PIN and destroy your old card(s).

Do I have to change my PIN?

You can keep your previous PIN, but you do need to activate the card and set a PIN before using the new card.

Will my PIN automatically transfer to the new card? 

No. You will need to set up the PIN for the new card. You can use your previous PIN or select a new one.

How do I activate my new card?

Your new card has instructions on how to set your PIN and activate the card.

What do I do with my old card?

Destroy the existing version.

Do I have to activate this card if my current one isn’t expired?

Yes

How is this card different from my old card? 

This card will have:

• New card design/color
• New card number
• New CVC code
• New expiration date

Does this affect my daily debit card spending limit? 

No. You may still have access to one checking account and one savings account per debit card with the same daily limits.

Will my card be contactless? 

Yes. Your debit card can still be used to get cash, pay bills, and make purchases everywhere Debit Mastercard is accepted, including contactless payments. You may still have access to one checking account and one savings account per debit card with the same daily limits.

Can I use my card with Digital Wallet? 

Not at first; but it's coming. The new cards must be active for a time to  to ensure proper security checks have been completed before adding to a digital wallet.

Will the daily limits be the same for the new cards? 

Yes.

Why does this card look so different?

The cards were redesigned to make it easy for customers to know if they are using the current card or the old card.

Will my account number change too?

No. Your checking account number will stay the same. 

What if I have recurring transactions on my current card?

Update your new card information (number, security code, and expiration date) for each merchant where you have set up recurring transactions.

Do I still need to contact the bank when I’m traveling?

Yes.

Can I change the design of the card I was issued?

No.

I have multiple accounts; how do I know what card goes with what?

Please call us and we can assist you with identifying correct accounts with your cards.

What do I need to do if I am not at my home/mailing address at the time of the card to be received? 

Make sure the post office will hold your mail until you return.

What if I am leaving on vacation or south for the winter?

Your card can be mailed to your temporary address as long as we receive notification prior to 12-1-2025.
